Golden Gurus Ambassadors - Get Ready!

Dear Greatconnections Volunteer,  

Would you like free training online, provided by the Federal Government’s Golden Gurus programme, in different aspects of being a valued volunteer?

Greatconnections is one of the few skilled volunteer agencies endorsed by Golden Gurus, and can offer you this training free.

The online training includes:  Introduction, Cultural Awareness, Disability Awareness and the role of Ambassadors (hand-selected volunteers, like you).

The training module includes an overview of the Ambassador (valued volunteer who will advocate the Golden Gurus/mature volunteer role) role, and will provide prospective Ambassadors with information and strategies to equip them for this role.

All you have to do is enrol at goldengurus@deewr.gov.au and the Golden Guru programme will send you everything you need to join the training including links to their LiveMeet software.

Other free training includes:

Cultural Awareness training (also newly arrived) will develop Golden Gurus' cultural awareness, and will provide an understanding of how your work as Golden Gurus may be shaped by cultural and linguistic diversity.

Disability Awareness training will develop Golden Gurus' disability and mental health awareness, and will provide an understanding of different types of disability, including mental health conditions, and tips for appropriate communication.
